WHY: Actresses Kirstie Alley and Kelly Preston will be in Tallahassee on Tuesday April 19th to address the Education Council on legislation (HB 209 and SB 1766) to prevent schools that receive state funding from forcing parents to put their children on psychotropic drugs as a condition of attendance in the schools and to give parents ALL the information they need to make an informed decision for their child's behavior problems.
Ms. Preston is a Florida resident, an actress, wife and mother of two children, who has been speaking out for parents' rights for the last seven years. She garnered national support for the federal version of this bill, The Child Medication Safety Act, which was signed into federal law by President George W. Bush in December 2004. Ms. Preston was in Tallahassee last week urging legislators to pass HB 209 and SB 1766 on this issue. She was also recently on FOX's Hannity and Colmes speaking out on this issue.
Ms. Alley, an actress and mother of two children, has been publicly speaking out against the psychiatric drugging of children for nearly 20 years. Along with Ms. Preston, Ms. Alley also garnered national support for the Child Medication Safety Act.
Although the issue of psychiatric child drugging is controversial, their message is simple - Give parents all the information needed to make an informed choice for their children. GIVE PARENTS THE RIGHT TO CHOOSE.
